Tips for a Coaster Marathon

Copied in part from

The 1979 Roller Coaster Fever Magazine and Guidebook

  • Undergo a complete physical examination and be sure to have medical documentation that you're as fit as a fiddle.

  • Prepare yourself physically in advance. You must be capable of enduring long hours of unnatural motions, fluctuating temperatures, and rotten digestion.

  • Bring along a variety of clothing - from t-shirts to jackets - to wear during possible temperature changes of day and night.

  • Use sun block and/or lotion/moisturizer on your hands, face, lips, arms, or other exposed parts of your body.

  • Wear sunglasses or ski goggles at all times to protect your eyes from wind, dirt, and nasty flying insects. Please have them properly secured.

  • A foam pillow might help absorb some of the shock from riding in an axle seat, however, please be considerate and limit it to one or two pillows. Remember, you may have a riding partner.

  • Have adequate rain gear on hand in the event of unexpected showers.

  • On this coaster, remember the lighter person. If you have a riding partner, the lighter person should get in first.

  • Try not to eat greasy foods. It tends to produce unwanted effects and wasted down time hosing out the train.

  • The rider's most important rule is to know when to stop. Be conscious of your limits and be responsible for the safety of others who are sharing this ride with you.

  • Maintain a positive attitude and have fun!
